Ganderbal: In compliance with the court directions police have arrested fake god-man for allegedly tarnishing the chastity of a disabled girl who according to the family died due to pregnancy complications.
The police acted after State High Court directed local court in Ganderbal to re-open the case. Earlier the court of Principal and District Sessions Judge Ganderbal had acquitted fake godman Hussain Sheikh alias Bagh Hussain a resident of Gulkul Arhama area of Kangan Tehsil. The police had lodged an FIR vide number 169/2012 in police station Ganderbal under section 376 RPC. The victim recorded her statement under section164A before Chief judicial Magistrate Ganderbal. However, before crossing the witness box in the trial she expired. However shortly after the acquittal of the 61 years old accused, the mother of the victim had approached State High Court wherein she claimed that her disabled daughter died in LD hospital due to pregnancy complications. The accused Pir coaxed and cajoled my disabled girl and on the pretext of providing her financial assistance from Social Welfare Department, he raped her. Due to her disability, my daughter developed complicacy during pregnancy resulting in her death, the complainant mother in her petition to High Court said.
Taking cognizance of the petition, the High Court ordered the arrest of the accused fake god-man while it also directed local court to review its earlier judgment and record the statements of all the eyewitnesses.
A police official told CNS that accused person was re-arrested and shifted to Central Jail Srinagar.
The court of Principal and District Sessions Judge Ganderbal Wednesday summoned Grand Mufti Bashir-u-Din and his Secreatry to record their statements as during the fresh trail it surfaced that victim had also approached to the Sharia Court of Mufti Azam Mufti Bashir-u-Din and he had pronounced a judgment that the accused is guilty and should be boycotted socially.
