JAMMU: Responding to the developments that resulted after the killing of a Gujjar youth, Muhammad Yaqoob on Monday in Sarore, district Samba, Governor N.N. Vohra Wednesday held a meeting at Civil Secretariat wherein he sought information about the incident.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, DGP, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Jammu, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range, Deputy Commissioner and S.S.P, Samba.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, informed Vohra that an enquiry to be completed within 15 days has already been ordered in regard to the incident of firing which had resulted in the death of a civilian and the subsequent Law & Order disturbance.
Governor gave detailed instructions to the Chief Secretary regarding the preparation of a draft plan to re-locate and re-habilitate nomadic tribes who move from place to place. He shall be taking a separate meeting in this regard.
The Governor, who had separately asked the DGP to send an urgent report in regard to this incident, stressed the need for a detailed operating procedure being evolved for ensuring effective maintenance of Law & Order while dealing with situation of such nature.
The Governor advised the Chief Secretary and DGP to urgently direct the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to ensure all necessary precautions while taking the required action for removal of encroachments and, side by side, ensuring the maintenance of public order.
