BARAMULLA: To promote education and sports spirit among the youth, a convention on Drug abuse and alcoholism was held here today with Joint Director Planning, A. G. Malik as the chief guest.
The convention was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with District Administration Baramulla.
On the occasion, the speakers discussed ways to curb drug abuse in the society and the need for promoting sports and skill development among the youth.
The Joint Director called for curbing the menace of drug abuse at the grass root level. He impressed upon the participants to work with serious efforts for betterment of the society.
Chief Education Officer also termed awareness as the key for curbing menace of drug addiction and alcoholism.
District Coordinator NYK informed the participants about various schemes and facilities kept in place for the help of Volunteers under NYK.
At the conclusion of the function, certificates were distributed among the participants.
Cultural programmes were also presented by various groups.
Various district Officers and the members of the youth community of the district attended the convention.
