JAMMU: In order to finalise the arrangements for 27th Police Public Mela, being held at Gulshan Ground Jammu on 21st February, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar, chaired a joint meeting of Executive and Managing Committees of Jammu and Kashmir Police this afternoon.
Rajendra discussed various aspects to make the mega event a success. He enquired from the heads of different committees about the efforts made by them for the smooth conduct of the Mela. Asking the participants to ensure all possible steps, making public access convenient, the DGP said that peoples participation at large scale would make the event more colourful. He said that effective parking and traffic arrangements should be put in place to make the Mela hassle free.
The meeting was told that computerisation of sale proceedings of the raffle draw tickets has been completed and the process would continue till all the tickets are sold. It was also told that arrangements for special cultural items have been made for the entertainment of visitors especially the children. DGP asked the management to keep available the tickets at the venue on the Mela day so that the aspirants are not disappointed.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Mr. Yoginder Koul, who is also chairman of Arrangement Committee, briefed the meeting about the arrangements put in place by all the nodal agencies for the smooth conduct of the mega event. He said that meetings at different levels are conducted to ensure sanitation and safety measures at the venue on the Mela day.
Later, Rajendra along with the senior police officers and PWWA members inspected the venue and the stalls established by different police units to display their products of different regions of the State. He was told that more than 60 stall holders have established their stalls and space has been allotted to each stall holder as per the requirement. He enquired from the management committees about the police bandobust and security measures made in and around the venue and was apprised that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure security during the Mela.
