SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Hassan Samoon on Thursday said there is mis-information being spread about the NFSA in Kashmir valley and that in real the food act would end the ration paucity in the state.
It is unfortunate that without knowing the act, some quarters are terming it anti people, says the Div Com, adding that the new food act would provide subsidised ration to the majority population of the state. Those who pay income tax including leading businessmen, IAS, KAS officers will have different quota from that of the common masses. General people will be benefited, Div Com told KNS over phone.
He added that some people are protesting for they have a notion that meagre ration will be provided to them. The fact is that number of ration card holders has increased. Earlier, there used to be the joint family with 10-12 members in each house. The ration from, government depots used to be provided as per that number. Now if there are three or four members in a family, ration quality will be as per the family strengthen, Div Com said.
He maintained that ration will be provided at 3Rs per KG and those who feel there is a deficit can purchase the additional quota. I am sure the confusion will end very soon. As people start getting ration as per the new food act, mis-information automatically will cease to exist. Div Com. (KNS)
