Srinagar: Former Minister for Public Works and MLA Amirakadal Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday stressed on party workers to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and take forward the mission of late chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Bukhari was addressing a pre-membership launch meeting presided over by him at Shiekhbagh. Besides all eleven ward committees of Amirakadal zone, the meeting was attended by party leaders including Abdul Hamid Kosheen, PDP incharge elections, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, Zone President Amirakadal and district coordinator Haji Parvez.
Emphasizing on the need to carry forward the vision and mission of the late chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with unwavering resolve, Bukhari asked the party workers to seek public support to help strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Mufti sahib always worked as a volunteer and preferred public service and principles over power. It is now our inherent responsibility to work with a renewed drive to take forward his vision of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, Bukhari told the meeting.
The former minister for Public Works discussed the partys preparedness and plan of action for the forthcoming membership drive that will be kick started from Amirakadal constituency on February 21. He asked the party workers to work in close contact with the party cadre across the constituency and put in all efforts to make the partys membership drive a big success.
Regarding the party convention which will be held at party headquarters on February 21 followed by launch of membership drive in the State, Bukhari asked the party workers to gear up for the programme and work for the desired results.
He said that the membership drive will surely give a much needed flip to party activity in the State besides taking the partys massage to grossroots level. Bukhari also discussed various policies and issues concerning the common-man and reiterated PDPs commitment to work tirelessly for the welfare and prosperity of the people of J&K.
The meeting discussed the political situation within the State and the challenges before the party that emerged especially after the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The heads of the ward committees also apprised Bukhari of various steps that are being taken to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. (KNS)
