SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department and UNICEF today organized a daylong workshop of District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) in Srinagar.
DCPOs from all districts of Jammu division along with staff from Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir attended the training programme.
The participants on the occasion deliberated on various aspects of juvenile justice system in the State and identified various challenges in the operational aspect of Juvenile Justice Act and Integrated Child Protection scheme in the State.
The training was inaugurated by Mir Tariq Ali, Special Secretary Social Welfare Department.
The resources persons discussed the guidelines, rules and provisions with regard to setting up of Child Welfare Committees and Special Juvenile Police Units in the state and also discussed guiding principles, approaches and target group.
The speakers stressed on child protection with right based approach including right to life, best interest of the child and no discrimination.
