ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Muneer Ul Islam today convened a meeting of District Task Force to review the preparedness for the smooth conduct of round second of Pulse Polio Immunization Programme in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the officials of Health and other line departments to work in a collaborative manner so that the second round of immunization programme, which starts on 21st February, is carried out in a professional and hassle free manner and ensure every child below 5 years living in every part of the district is immunized.
The CMO Anantnag apprised the meeting about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the second round of immunization, which commences on 21st of February, in which 134229 eligible children below five years will be immunized. He informed that for the immunization programme, 617 vaccination booths would be established in the district in which 2468 team members including 1213 health workers, 588 ASHA workers, 482 Anganwadi workers and 100 volunteers will be deployed. Besides 6 transit points would also be setup in the various locations across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials to make available adequate quantity of immunization vials and other equipments at the vaccine centers well in time. He further insisted upon the officers to mobilize their men and machinery and make their vaccination teams robust especially in the rural and hilly areas for the success of the immunization programme.
To ensure 100 percent immunization of targeted child population, the Deputy Commissioner directed CMO Anantnag to organize awareness campaigns by means of print and electronic media so that people living in near and far of the district are sensitized about Pulse Polio Campaign. He further directed the officers of the health department to conduct door to door campaigns in every block of the district so that every child upto the age of 5 years is immunized in this phase of the immunization programme.
