SRINAGAR: A day after Governor NN Vohra directed political appointees to quit their posts, Advocate General, Jahangir Iqbal Ganai Friday afternoon resigned from his office in Jammu.
Sources said that Jahangir spent few minutes in his office before he resigned from the pot and left the spot in his private car.
Jehangir was appointed Advocate General last year by PDP-BJP coalition government. He was the youngest lawyer to hold such a position in J&K, so far. Among the political appointees only Amitabh Mattoo and Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para had resigned on time, rest have not followed the suit following which Governor NN Vohra had to demand resignations from them.
Notably, all the political appointments made by former CM late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in his ten months rule have been declared null and void by Vohra administration including vice-chairpersons of all boards, commissions and advisors to previous coalition government.
Meanwhile, the government employees that had been attached with the ministerial staff are still awaiting new postings.
A KAS officer who was attached with a minister said that after the imposition of the Governors Rule they were asked to report to General Administration Department. Till date we have been awaiting our new postings and at present are idle. These include Junior KAS officers, Additional Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, Private Secretaries, Personal Assistants and other officers, he said.
