SRINAGAR: In one of its rare kind of happening, at least a dozen people were mauled by canines in a single day at several places in Lolab of north-Kashmirs Kupwara district. The persons attacked included several women and children.
Reports reaching GNS said that the incidents occurred in Dardpora, Redhnag and Lalpora localities of the border district.
Of the ten persons, seven have been reported as Jamsheed Ahmad Ganaie, Aasia Bano, Shameema Begum, Manzoor Ahmad, Bilal Hassan, Seerat Hassan and Rashida.
The increasing number of canines in some villages of Lolab in the district has become a serious cause of concern to the inhabitants of these areas.
Dogs in groups roam about in the residential areas striking fear among villagers according to the locals while adding that the administration has miserably failed to check the menace. (GNS)
