KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner, Kupwara today convened a meeting of officers of different departments associated with the convergence plan in the district to discuss various issues related to plantation drive under their control.
It was given out that 20,000 saplings of various kinds are being planted within the district in Educational institutions, Panchayat ghars, colleges and Forest land in partnership mode.
It was also given out that Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Forest, Soil conservation and Social Forestry departments are going to implement the plantation drive with the labour component of Rural Development Department under convergence plan for ensuing plantation drive.
Higher Secondary School, Nagri is being covered under plantation drive where 200 kanals of land has been identified for plantation and 107 schools have been selected for plantation.
The DDC impressed upon the officers to cover the Challgund and Panzoo villages under plantation drive. He also sought DPRs from the Forest, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Forestry, Panchayat Ghars and Rural Development department to submit the proposals for plantation drive under the convergence plan.
