Srinagar: The Government has decided to impose restrictions across Kashmir valley on Thursday on 32th death anniversary of the JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.
The deputy commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, said in order to maintain law and order Section 144 wil be imposed in some areas of Srinagar city.
The Section would restrict assembly of four or more people to prevent protest demonstrations and rallies on the death anniversary of Maqbool Bhat
Restrictions are bound to be imposed if attempts to harm the public property are made, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoon said. Normally government does not impose restrictions, but to maintain law and order, restrictions are a must.
Meanwhile, DC Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone said that Old City and Maisuma area of uptown will remain under restrictions. We have decided to enforce restrictions under Section 144 in areas under five police stations across Srinagar, he said.
The pro-freedom camp has issued a strike for Thursday on the death anniversaries of Bhat. Bhat was executed on February 11, 1984. He is buried inside Delhis Tihar jail.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) led by Syed Ali Geelani while reiterating the shutdown call described Maqbool Bhat as brave and courageous pro-freedom person who wronged the assumptions about the Kashmiri nation and after centuries of slavery he brought them face to face with their enemy.
While reiterating his demand of return back of the mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, Geelani said that India is the only country in the world who denied the dead bodies of the political prisoners to their families and it has further exposed its claim of being a largest democracy.
While appealing for complete and state-wide shutdown on 11 February, Thursday, Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that the great nations never forget those brave hearts who sacrifice their present for the future of their nation.
They are remembered for centuries and their life becomes as source of inspirations for the other people.
The pro-freedom leader further said that the best way to pay tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru is that we should be loyal to that mission and we should carry forward that mission for which these sons of the soil kissed the glows.
Geelani said that our nation has paid huge sacrifices for the freedom struggle so far but the most important and sensitive matter is the protection of these sacrifices.
Our nation has to control and rectify its mistakes and weaknesses which are harming the mission of our martyrs and which prolong our way to freedom.
Geelani said that to attain the goal of freedom and to respect the blood of our martyrs, we have to boycott India and its local agents here and dont vote or support them on any level or in any way. Unity is the only key to success.
