Anantnag: In last 3 months, the community transformer of Bidder Dram Dalav village of South Kashmirs Anantnag district has got damaged on four occasions, leaving hundreds of souls under darkness in harshest winter.
We have been repeatedly demanding up gradation of transformer as it gets damaged every now and then, the locals said. They said the transformer was prone to damages and concerned PDD authorities failed to rectify it despite being informed time and again. The fault leading to the damage to the transformer was due to the local linemans indifference but its consequences are being suffered by us, said the local of Gh Mohammad Shah.
The villagers have accused the PDD of being indifferent to their woes. It is a routine now. We have been repeatedly demanding upgradation of the transformer because it is overloaded but there is not even a whisper by the officials which speaks volumes about the lack of concern towards our plight, they said. The residents have demanded MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather to personally interfere into the matter so as to see installation of upgraded transformer in the area to prevent what they said recurring troubles. We are facing immense hardships in absence of electricity. Education of our children is suffering badly. Patients and elders are facing difficulties in absence of the electricity, they said urging the concerned authorities to restore the electricity at the earliest. However when contacted MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather assured Kashmir Observer that a new transformer will be installed in the village very soon.
