Srinagar – JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik today distributed relief worth Rs 2.25 lakh among families affected by a gunfight between militants and security forces in Sopore in Baramulla district early this month.
Accompanied by a number of senior party leaders, Malik visited the house of Lashker-e-Toiba ‘commander’ who along with his Pakistani accomplice were killed in the encounter on October 21, a JKLF spokesman said.
Senior leaders Noor Mohamad Kalwal, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Mir Mohamad Zaman, Bashir Kashmiri, Mohamad Haneef along with senior office bearers of Baramullah Abdul Rashid Mogloo, Farooq Ahmad Dar,Mir Abdul Rashid, Gh. Qadir Khan, Moulvi Reyaz and M Azam visited Sopore along with Yasin.
Yasin Sahib went to the site of destruction where the houses of Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Mohamad Afzal shah and Lateefa Bano ( a widow) have been raised to ground. Yasin Sahib was also taken to a leather factory of Abdul Majeed Siraj that also has been destroyed by army shelling, said the JKLF spokesperson in a statement here.
He said even after the encounter army ransacked houses of Mehraj Ud Din Malik, Ab. Gani Mir and Habibullah Mir and looted valuables from these houses.
Malik distributed 2.25 Lakh rupees among the effected people .About 1.25 Lakh of this money was collected from the well wishers in Srinagar while as one Lakh Rupees were contributed by the fruit mandi Sopore for the cause, the spokesperson added.
Speaking to the people Yasin Sahib appealed to all kashmiri’s to keep these effected in mind who have lost everything of them and are compelled to live under the open skies during these cold days. While thanking those who contributed for the cause Yasin appealed to others especially people of Sopore to rise to the occasion and help these brethren in this hour of need. Yasin Sahib while condemning the terrorism unleashed by Indian army, looting, ransacking and destroying peoples houses said that this approach of Indian army has once again proved that the Indian army and forces always treat Kashmir as their colony where they have no rule or regulation to follow, he said.
