Srinagar:- Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled a rifle snatching bid by arresting a newly recruited Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
A senior police officer told GNS that the joint team of armys 44 RR and police, acting on a tip off, apprehended a Hizbul-Mujahiddin militant along with a Chinese pistol during a search operation in Ringwar Keller area, last evening.
It was a blow to the militants who was tasked to carry out weapon snatching and cop killing in the region, the officer said.
The officer identified the militant as Farook Ahmad Hurra S/o Late Ghulam Ahmed Hurra R/o Nazninpura, Shopian. He was recruited by Farooq Ahmed Sheikh and Wasim Mallah @ Rizwan.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations have been taken up, the officer said.
