SRINAGAR: Scores of protesters Thursday disrupted the movement of traffic after they blocked the road for hours demanding thorough investigation into the murder of a youth in Koolipora Khanyar area of Srinagar city.
A few days back police had recovered the dead body of 22 years old youth Irfan Ahmed Pandit of Koolipora in a Maruti car (JK01G 9751) near Ghousia hospital Khanyar. Police had detained the owner of the vehicle Ajaz Ahmed Malik who happened to be the neighbour of the deceased youth for questioning.
The family members and relatives of the deceased youth staged protest and alleged that police released the detained youth without conducting investigation. It is a murder case and police have released the youth without probing the matter. The deceased youth was accompanying Ajaz Ahmed Malik for three days and on the fourth day we found his dead body in his car. The accused should be thoroughly questioned and facts should be made to public, the protesters told CNS.
Top police officials visited the spot and assured the protesters that investigation will be conducted on fast track basis.
