SRINAGAR: Taking advantage of illness of a cancer patient, a man has occupied two shops of a legal owner in Lasjan near Panthachowk from the last four years.
Asadullah Bhat, an old man, battling cancer, bought land at Lasjan about two and a half Marlas land from Abdul Aziz Thoker in 2006 and completed all legal formalities of ownership.
The aging Bhat told KNS that he constructed four shops on the land and started tyre workshop (Kongposh Tyres) on it.
In 2012, I fell sick and had to attend to different doctors and hospitals in Mumbai and New Delhi. During this period, Thoker occupied my two shops and illegally sold the whole stock of tyres and machines to a man from Bandipora, Bhat told KNS.
Confirming the illegal occupation of the shops by Thoker, Tehsildar Panthachowk, Ali Mohammad Najar told KNS that he has asked the Patwari concerned to investigate the matter and submit a report.
It is established that Asadullah Bhat is the legal owner of the shops and the land, which Aziz Thoker has occupied. If Thoker does not vacate the land, then we will submit the report to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for action, Najar told KNS.
Meanwhile, the ailing Bhat has appealed Governor N N Vohra and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Samoon, for justice. (KNS)
