SRINAGAR: Stressing on the need to chalk out effective parking management mechanism to ease traffic congestion the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Hassan Samoon today said that adopting the concept of vertical parking and paid parking will help in smooth movement of traffic on the roads by taking scores of cars off from road sides.
The Divisional commissioner said this while chairing a meeting of officers from State Development Authority, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Road and Building ,police ,Government Press, ERA Kashmir and JKPCC Ltd.
Samoon said with limited free space available in Srinagar city, the stress should be on the construction of vertical car parking, so that more cars could be accommodated in lesser space. He stressed on proper planning for developing new car parking and other government structures.
He also emphasized the need to develop a mechanism to check idle parking and for providing paid parking facilities to the people. He said that this will also help to generate employment avenues for many.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure shifting of government press to newly constructed building in Sempore, Pampore within next three months.
