Srinagar- Police on Saturday installed an advanced surveillance system at the Navayuga Tunnel Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district to enhance security and detect concealed contraband, illegal weapons, and other illicit materials in vehicles.
A Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson said the newly introduced technology includes wall radar and thermal screening systems, aimed at strengthening monitoring along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The system enables real-time detection of smuggling activities and potential threats.
Senior officers from the police, army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) assessed the system’s operational effectiveness and expressed satisfaction with its performance. They emphasized its role in reinforcing security measures on the crucial highway.
