The latest book, spanning over 260 pages, consists of six thematic chapters addressing major 21st-century trends, issues, and challenges within the Islamic intellectual tradition. It delves into the contributions and academic perspectives of prominent contemporary Muslim scholars from the Indo-Pak subcontinent, contextualizing them within broader reformist thought. Key themes explored in the book include Islamic primary sources, the Quran, and the Prophet’s Seerah, along with legal, socio-political, and gender-related discussions. The work engages with the ideas of thinkers such as Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui, Muhammad Nejatullah Siddiqi, Muhammad Khalid Masud, and Maulana Wahiduddin Khan.
Dr. Parray’s book has garnered appreciation from internationally recognized scholars of Islamic Studies. Dr. Abdul Kader Choughley of Ahsan Academy of Research, South Africa, regards it as a significant addition to the scholarship on the intellectual Islamic tradition in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. The book’s Foreword is written by Professor Asma Afsaruddin of Indiana University Bloomington, USA, who commends it as a “commendable accomplishment” that effectively addresses “critically vital topics” gaining traction in contemporary discourse.
Ms. Nandini Ganguli, Acquisitions Editor at Peter Lang India, praised Dr. Parray’s work as insightful and well-researched, offering a thorough analysis of contemporary Islamic thought in the Indo-Pak subcontinent.
