Withhold Salary Of Erring Officers: Govt
Srinagar – The state government has issued orders for withholding the salary of Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), who fail to complete the verification of engagement documents of daily wagers and casual labourers working in the states Power Development Department (PDD) within a stipulated time period.
it is hereby ordered that the pay dues of AEES concerned, who do not now complete the process of verification by or before 15th of October, 2012 shall be withheld, reads the order issued by Principal Secretary to Government, Power Development Department, Sudhanshu Panday vide order No 308-PDD of 2012 dated 05.10.2012, a copy of which lies with KNS.
The orders were issued after the casual labourers had made a representation to the Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD) alleging that the concerned AEEs were dilly-dallying the verification process in clear defiance of government orders.
Pertinently, the Power Development Department had issued orders vide No 265-PDD of 2012 dated 05.09.2012, asking the concerned officers to submit the verification report within a stipulated time frame.
In the back drop of 67-day long strike by the daily wagers and casual labourers, a committee had been constituted vide Government order No 231-PDD of 2012 dated 31.07.2012, after the states Finance department asked the PDD to furnish exact details of financial implications on payment of wages to such workers.
In order to find the exact requirement of funds, the committee through the department had asked concerned officers to ascertain the veracity of engagement documents of these workers.
