Srinagar- Anganwadi workers staged a protest in Srinagar on Saturday, demanding an increase in their honorarium. Gathering at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, the workers raised slogans, urging the government to address their long-pending demands.
The protesters expressed frustration over the authorities’ inaction, stating that their repeated appeals have been ignored. They said that no legislator has taken up their cause in the assembly.
“We dedicate ourselves to serving the community, yet we receive only a meager honorarium, which is not enough to sustain our families,” said one of the protesting workers.
Warning of intensified agitation, the workers threatened to take to the streets daily with their families if their demands remained unmet. They urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Health Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene and ensure a resolution at the earliest.
