Srinagar: District administration in Poonch on Wednesday ordered a complete ban on sale of liquor in Mendhar tehsil. Reports said that the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Haroon Malik, ordered the complete ban on the sale of liquor in the Mendhar tehsil under the order no.DMP/J/2015/3016/23.I have got the reports that few people especially Shah bar and restaurant and Sharma bar and Wine shop extension counter near bus stand Mendhar are violating the laws from time and time again, so in the interest of public, I have second time ordered the ban so that the law and order situation should prevail here, Malik told GNS.
Both Hindu and Muslim Communities are happy with this move as some of the bars are located near the Mosques and Temples, he said, adding, The sale of liquor is damaging the youth especially students.
