
Srinagar- Raja Mohammad Tasleem Abbas Khan, Additional District and Sessions Judge, was laid to rest on Thursday at his ancestral graveyard in Botraj Mohalla, Inside Kathi Darwaza, amid an outpouring of grief.
His funeral prayers were led by Dr Aga Syed Mudasir Rizvi. Hundreds of mourners, including members of the judiciary, legal fraternity, and the public, attended his funeral to pay their final respects.
Raja Tasleem passed away on Wednesday night at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments. He was 57. His untimely demise at the peak of his career has left his colleagues and admirers in deep shock.
Hailing from the Botraj clan of the Nagar princely state, Raja Tasleem was known for his unwavering commitment to justice. Last year, he took charge as the Special Judge for UAPA cases in Baramulla, following an illustrious career as Chief Judicial Magistrate in Anantnag and later Srinagar. His tenure was marked by integrity, fearlessness, and a deep sense of duty toward upholding the rule of law.
Respected for his upright attitude, Raja Tasleem played a key role in handling sensitive cases with impartiality and professionalism. His passing has left a significant void in the legal fraternity, with colleagues remembering him as a man of principles, sincerity, and humility.
Condolences have poured in from across Jammu and Kashmir, recognizing his contributions to the judiciary and society at large. His legacy as a dedicated jurist and a compassionate human being will continue to inspire generations to come.
A condolence meeting was held in the Conference Hall of District Court Complex Srinagar in which all the Judicial Officers and employees posted in the District Court Complex Srinagar participated to mourn the demise of Raja Mohammad Tasleem, Special Judge, UAPA Court, Baramulla, who left for heavenly abode after brief illness.
The participants also observed two minute silence to pay homage to the departed soul.
The participants in the meeting prayed for the peace and tranquillity to the departed soul and also prayed for patience to the bereaved and grief stricken family to bear this irreparable loss.
Raja Mohammad Tasleem was a noble and pious soul whose untimely demise has left a vacuum in the institution of Judiciary.
