Pertinently, the MCH (Maternity Child Hospital) Anantnag caters to thousands of patients from across South Kashmir every day, but when it comes to sanitation, there is lot to be desired. The bathrooms in the hospital are very dirty. The pipes are leaking, the faucets don’t work and toilets smell as is these have not been cleaned since months. Sources told Kashmir Observer that most of the toilets and washrooms are dirty with the washbasins brimming with wastewater, and filth scattered all over the floors. Poor upkeep of toilets and washrooms was posing a serious threat to the health of patients. Seeking anonymity, a helper of a patient told Kashmir Observer that “The public toilets-lack running water, have no latches on doors.. When KO attempted to contact the superintendent of MCH hospital he was unavailable.
