JAMMU: The Minister for Transport, Abdul Ghani Kohli today inaugurated a National Seminar on Present Scenario of Creative Writing in Urdu organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of HRD, Government of India here today.
Congratulating the department for organizing a National seminar on a vital subject the Minister said that such literary meets will go a long way in promoting the language and providing a platform to the budding writers to present their creativity.
He said that Urdu is not only an official language of the state but also a link language of sub-continent and government is making concerted efforts to promote urdu language.
He also emphasized on promoting reading culture and called upon the intellectuals, academicians and writers to supplement these efforts to promote and popularize urdu literature.
In his address Vice Chancellor , Jammu University too Prof R D Sharma congratulated Department of Urdu and National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) for organizing such programmes and said that these are beneficial for the faculty and students besides providing a platform to the budding writers to display their creativity.
Prof Khawaja Ekram, Former Director NCPUL, presented a detailed key note address in which he made a critical analysis of different genres of Urdu language of present times .
Earlier HOD Urdu Prof Shohab Inayat Malik presented the welcome address.
The proceeding of the inaugural progamme was conducted by Dr Mohd Reyaz Ahmed while vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sukhchain Singh.
