SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Commission summons Vice-Chairman LAWDA to appear in person before the Commission on next date of hearing along with Action Taken Report pertaining to illegal constructions going on in full swing in violation of law and rules at Khayam Nowpora Srinagar which is in the jurisdiction of LAWDA.
The State Vigilance Commission while enquiring into a complaint regarding illegal constructions raised by some influential persons in connivance with officials of LAWDA sought a factual report from the LAWDA authorities. The report received from LAWDA did not address the main issues. Accordingly, the Secretary LAWDA was summoned in person before the Commission today in the Commissions sitting at Srinagar. The Secretary expressed his helplessness in carrying out any action against the violators stating that Enforcement Officer LAWDA is not implementing the instructions taking refuge of The J&K Civil Laws (special Provisions Act), 2014, though he admitted that the illegal structures in Khayam Nowpora have come up after September, 2014 floods and that the unauthorized structures which have come up after 5th March, 2014, are not covered under the Act.
In view of the assertions made by the Secretary LAWDA, the Commission while taking serious note of the matter, summoned Vice-Chairman LAWDA, to appear in person before the Commission on next date of hearing along with Action Taken Report in the matter and explain the abuse of official position by LAWDA authorities by not implementing the law in force.
