Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that patients are dissatisfied with the care they receive in hospitals which is responsible for aggression against doctors.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement said that patients are displeased with the health care delivery system which is the reason for violence against hospital staff.
The messy health care system is not oriented around the needs of patients and whole model of health care delivery frankly makes absolutely no sense.
In the past, hospitals were looked as most trusted friends but there has been a steep decline in positive feeling about hospitals.
The hospital environment is uncomfortable and distressing which is pushing patients in despair.
Lack of warmth and friendliness and failure to take into account patient concerns and expectations leaves patients discontented.
Patients do not get respect and doctors do not spend enough time with patients and they are not listened.
Patients believe that doctors are like parents and they will not be abandoned but lack of attention and compassion makes them feel unsafe and insecure.
Long wait times for consultations and long delays in procedures are provoking and frustrating for patients.
Inability to access nurses and doctors is the main reason for scuffle in hospitals.
Most of the times, patients are left waiting in pain and agony in emergency departments.
Most often than not, patients report that they have not been treated with courtesy and dignity by hospital staff and they are not listened carefully.
It is ironical that senior doctors, who have to be full time in hospitals for patients care, stay for few hours and leave patients to fend for themselves.
It is painful that attendants are forced to take care of their patients which otherwise is duty of hospital staff and in return they are humiliated.
