Cairo – A delegation of The Elders, led by former US president Jimmy Carter, arrived in Cairo Tuesday for a two-day visit, reported Xinhua, citing official news agency MENA.
The delegation, comprising international personalities and Nobel Peace Prize laureates, were received by US Ambassador to Egypt, Ann W. Patterson.
During the two-day visit, Carter and his delegation will meet with Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al Tayyeb to discuss the latest developments in Egypt and the whole region. A press conference will be held after the meeting.
The Elder group is an international NGO, whose members include former officials, activists, and human rights advocates.
