Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said that she and her father, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, get deeply hurt by keeping Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani under house arrest and imposing curfew on Friday in Downtown in Srinagar.
Keeping Geelani under house arrest and imposing curfew on Fridays in downtown deeply hurts me and my father. Firing teargas and pepper shells on Friday is very hurting. Unfortunately, the peace process which was started from 2002 to 2005 was completely derailed and stopped, whose consequences we are bearing today in the state, Mehbooba said during while speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak in New Delhi.
She said that chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had started peace process in Jammu and Kashmir when he had ruled the state from 2002 to 2005.
Mehbooba said that she never wanted to become the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in near future. “I am not looking forward to be CM of Jammu and Kashmir.”
She said that the PDP-BJP alliance in the state needed a leader of the stature of Mufti Sayeed to run it.
“My father believes in conviction rather than convenience. He has done this alliance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not to make his daughter chief minister,” she said.
