ANANTNAG: MLA Kokernag, A. R. Rather Tuesday reviewed MGNREGA and its convergence in collaboration with other identified departments to create sustainable assets during a meeting held at Kokernag.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, ACD Anantnag, Exens of R&B, PHE, I&FC, district officers from district administration and concerned BDOs.
The MLA stressed upon the concerned agencies to mobilize their men and machinery for making MGNREGA successful in the constituency. He asked for involving Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and other line departments in the convergence plan. He also directed the concerned departments to submit their projects within 10 days and also for providing projects for the next year also.
He added that empowerment of local Panchayat institutions and creation of basic infrastructure and required facilities in these institutions is the top priority of Mufti led coalition Government.
The MLA said that focus is to be given on flood restoration works on Bengi Nalla and channelization of the Nalla to save assets like Agriculture land, orchards and Government infrastructure.
ACD Anantnag informed the meeting that under MGNREGA against an availability of Rs. 3.25cr, 537 works were taken up and 244 works have been completed sofar with an expenditure of Rs. 1.04cr in Kokernag constituency. Also 24000 mandays were generated and 6500 job cards have been issued so far. Under SBM against a target of 2400 house hold latrines 889 latrines have been completed and Rs. 45 lacs spent on the construction work the meeting was told.
