SRINAGAR: NSS Wing of Amar Singh College, Srinagar organized an AIDS Awareness Programme on World AIDS Day today under the banner of Red Ribbon Club.
During the programme both scientific and religious aspects of the disease were discussed. Dr. Sheikh Tanveer Salam (NSS Programme Officer) deliberated upon the biomedical aspects of HIV & AIDS highlighting the recent trends in combating the disease besides brushing up the epidemiology of the disease. This was followed by lecture by Dr. A. R. War Head, Department of Arabic on the religious perspective of the disease and its prevention.
Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Aslam Baba, Principal of the College in his presidential address acknowledged the role of all the three NSS Units of the College in organizing the programme and stressed upon the need for making common masses aware about the dreadful disease by conducting field awareness programmes. He emphasized upon the need for inculcating moral values among youth.
The programme was concluded by vote of thanks extended by Dr. Shabnam Ara, NSS Programme Officer.
