JAMMU National Conference leader and former Jammu Kashmir chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday created a controversy in some section of the India media by saying that Pak Kashmir will remain with Pakistan.
(Parts of) Jammu Kashmir is in Pakistan and will remain, while (other parts of) Jammu Kashmir is in India and will remain. We need to understand this, said Abdullah who also served in Indian cabinet as well. I have been saying for years that Azad Jammu Kashmir is a part of India. But what did you do? Did you take it as a part of India, he questioned when asked to clarify his statement.
He also said that war was not the solution but dialogue was the only option. His comment has drawn sharp reactions. Abdullahs son and former chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: “I’m amazed that the channels are treating my father’s views as though they are something he’s never said before.” Abdullah made the comments while responding to questions on the controversy over film star Aamir Khan’s leaving India comments.
