Srinagar: The authorities Friday evening released detained Hurriyat leaders who were arrested before Prime Minister Narendra Modis rally on November 7 to foil their Million march.
Hurriyat (G) newly elected Secretary General, Shabir Shah, National Front and Hurriyat (G) senior leader Chairman Nayeem Khan, Hurriyat (G) chief spokesman Ayaz Akbar, Mehraj du Din Kalwal (Tehreeki Hurriyat leader) were released Friday evening after 28 days detention.
Shah and Khan were both lodged in Rajbagh Police Station, Ayaz Akbar in Parimpora, while Kalwal in Nowgam police station.
However, family of Ayaz Akbar told KNS that he was put under house arrest immediately after being released.
The leaders have been released following protests and condemnation by the Hurriyat Conference.
Police sources told KNS that those detained before Prime Ministers rally were released today and the cases of others will also reviewed.
Sources said that the decision of releasing these leaders was taken after a high level meeting by the government few days ago.
