53.09% achievements in priority advances by Q-3
ANANTNAG: To review the performance of various banks, a District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Muneer-ul-Islam, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag Mr.Muneer-ul-Islam .
Lead Bank Manager, Project Officer, DRDA, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, ARTO, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer besides other concerned district officers and the representatives of RBI, NABARD were among others attended the meeting.
The Lead Bank Manager gave detailed information about the performance of the banks. It was informed that during the 3rd quarter of current financial year , 53.09% target of the priority sector (agriculture, MSEs, Education, and Housing) amounting to Rs .426.91crores advances has been made so far.
It was apprised that branches of J&K Bank have been established at Nowgam Dooru, Halamulla, Veeri, Harnag and Kapran. The representatives of SBI Bank have been directed to explore the establishment of the Bank Branches at Dooru, Shangus and Nagam respectively. Besides the J&K Bank has been asked to establish an additional branch at Jablipora, Bijbehara.
District Development Commissioner impressed upon all the officers to complete the sponsoring targets by 20th of December 2015 and banks were asked to facilitate hassle free credit. He also impressed upon the participants that we should prioritize Education , agriculture, small scale industries , horticulture so that people in general can benefit from the Priority Lending Policy of the Government and the inclusive and tangible economic development of the district is ensured.
Stressing on the need of financial literacy and financial inclusion, DDC called upon the Chief Education Officer and Lead Bank Manager to take steps for organization of education loan melas in all Model Higher Secondary Schools and tie up with Principals of Government Degree Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges and authorities of South Campus Kashmir University. The purpose of these Melas would be to inform the students about the low interest loan avenues available to them.
