SRINAGAR: A Srinagar court on Friday issued non-bailable warrant against two accused cops in Wamiq Farooq murder case.
Hearing the lawyer representing the family of Wamiq Farooq (Class 7th student) who was killed during 2010 public unrest, Forest Magistrate Srinagar, B A Munshi directed Senior Superintendent Police Srinagar to arrest the two accused cops forthwith.
Wamiq Farooq was killed on January 31, 2010 when a teargas shell fired by police allegedly hit him on the head near Gani Memorial Stadium at Rajouri Kadal Srinagar.
The court asked J&K police to present the duo ASI Ab Khaliq and SPO Muhammad Akram on December Ist, 2015. Advocate Aijaz Ahmad is defending the Wamiq Farooq case on behalf of the family.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Khaliq had appealed Supreme Court of India against the trail going-on in Srinagar court which has been rejected twice by the apex court. Both the orders were later submitted to High Court of Jammu and Kashmir which were subsequently submitted before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar.
However, CJM had already ordered a magisterial enquiry in the case and the present CJM, Masrat Shaheen, transferred the case to Forest Magistrate who gave the verdict today hearing Advocate Aijaz Ahmad.
