SRINAGAR: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men and two civilians were injured in a grenade explosion on Friday in Pampors Kadalbal area, police said.
The blast occurred early on Friday on a CRPF patrolling party near J&K Bank in Kadlabal Pampore on Srinagar-Jammu Highway, a police official said.
Talking to KNS P.R.O CRPF Ashish Kumar Jaha said, that the grenade was hurled at on duty CRPF men. The grenade exploded with a bang resulting in injuries to three CRPF men and two civilians. All the injured were shifted to hospital and were stable, he said.
He claimed that though our men saw the grenade thrower but they maintained restrain to avoid the civilian casualties.
He said that the injured CRPF men belong to 110 -Battalion camped at Pampore and were identified as constable PL Masrucar, Constable Mohan Kumar, Constable Rejesh Roshan.
The injured civilians were identified as Mehraj-ud-din,Shiek, Resident of Sangam and Latif Ahmad Sheik, resident of Yarigam.
The police said that all of them have sustained minor splinter injuries and are stable.
The grenade blast triggered panic in the area and people ran for safety. Soon, police, CRPF and Army cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
