SRINAGAR: Sonamarg-Zojila road shall remain officially open till November 23 to clear all the stranded vehicles from the road.
The decision was taken today in a meeting convened under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon.
It was decided that 50 heavy vehicles would ply on the road daily. Starting from November 18 the vehicles would leave alternately from Sonamarg to Zojila and the other way round. No heavy vehicle would be allowed to cross Sonamarg and Mini Marg after 12 Noon, the Divisional Commissioner instructed.
Mr. Samoon directed that two recovery machines should permanently be stationed on the Highway at Gumri and Captain Mode to clear any broken vehicle.
The meeting was attended by District Commissioner, Ganderbal, Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal and Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural. Besides, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh attended the meeting through video conferencing.
