Poonch: An octogenarian man who had crossed over to Pakistani Kashmir was today arrested by police along with his wife and daughter in Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch district after returning to this side of the State via Nepal.
Muhammad Aziz, 90, of Salwa in Mendhar had crossed over to PaK in 1947 and was residing at Panjera in Kotli district there. Sources told GNS that he had married there and was living along with his family.
However Aziz today returned to Mendhar via Nepal route along with wife namely Rashida Begum (70) and his daughter Hafeeza Kaunsar (26). Sources said that police had already received information about their return and when the trio reached Sandara Chowk, a police party led by SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nayeem arrested them. The trio is currently lodged at Mendhar police station.
A police official said that police have launched an investigation and a case would be soon registered in this regard. As per police, Aziz was supposed to go to his brothers house at Salwa Mendhar.
Sources said that Aziz had earlier in 2013 and 2014 come here via Poonch Chakan Da Bagh bus service. Now, he had sold his house at Kotli for 5 lakh rupees and was apparently intending to resettle his family here, they added. (GNS)
