PDP condemned use of pepper gas then, silent now

Srinagar: Residents of old city including the Auqaf Committee Jamia Masjid are mulling to go for an agitation against the unabated use of pepper gas on protestors. We have warned district administration to stop the use of pepper guns immediately, otherwise we will launch a massive agitation, a group of people hailing from different localities of old Srinagar city told local news gathering CNS, adding that during every protest Indian forces and police use pepper guns which adversely affects the health of people.

Every Friday, security personnel used pepper guns on protestors in Srinagar especially in Nowhatta area. It affects the health of so many elders. Many people have been admitted in hospitals and many more have been dying in their respective homes, locals of old city told CNS.

Pertinently experts have already warmed of harmful effects of pepper gas. Pepper spray causes severe burning and sensation in eyes. It can also cause inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear mucous membrane that protects the front of the eyeball and the inner eyelids. People who already have cornea problems could suffer severe eye injury from pepper spray, an ophthalmologist from SMHS Hospital told CNS.

Worth to mention here that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which targeted the then NC government for using pepper gas is now defending police to use it against the protesters.

At many occasions especially on July 20, 2014 the ruling party Peoples Democratic Party had issued a statement to media condemning use of pepper gas by the police all across Kashmir Valley on the protesters.
