6 new books on Sufism released
Srinagar: A day-long seminar was held at the University of Kashmir on Saturday to commemorate the 700th birth anniversary of Mir Syed Ali Hussaini Hamadani (RA), popularly known here as Shah Hamdan.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Embassy of Republic of Tajikistan in India, Centre for Central Asian Studies (CCAS), University of Kashmir, and The Kashmir Society led by Khawaja Farooq Renzu.
In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, Prof Merajuddin Mir said the teachings of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani are based on humanity and need to be followed in letter and spirit.
He said when the revered Sufi saint arrived in Kashmir with his companions, he found the place in darkness and beset with poverty.
So he took upon himself the mission of imparting Islamic teachings among people and alongside impart skill development training among the masses to help them get rid of poverty, Prof Mir said.
In his keynote address, Prof M A Wani, Dean of Academic Affairs at KU, said Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA) was a multi-dimensional personality who popularized the essence and true message of Islam.
The best heritage and legacy of Mir Syed Ali Hamadani is his life, his teachings, mission, contribution and scholarship. He devoted his life to see Islam being spread among people and also educate them that Islam is a comprehensive code of life and conduct, he said.
In his inaugural address, the Ambassador of Tajikistan in India, Mirzosharif Jalolov, said the Embassy is ready to help and promote any endeavor aimed at teaching and research about Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA).
Khawaja Farooq Renzu Shah also spoke on the occasion while Dr Taraek Rather from CCAS conducted proceedings of the seminar which was attended by scholars, faculty members and students of the University.
Renzushah said that civilization of love and Aitqaad were shaped by Hazrat Bulbulshah in 1321 and further consolidated taken to pinnacle by Syed Ali Hamdani.
Six books published by Gulshan Books, Srinagar were also released on the occasion.
The book on Amir-e-Kabir Shah-e-Hamdan was released by Tajik Ambassador while book on Maulana Rumi was released by VC Central University.
Book on Hazrat Gaus-ul-Azam was released by Farooq Renzushah while Prof. Ashraf Wani released Seal of Saints.
