Bandipora: Violent clashes broke out in Hajin area of North Kashmirs Bandipora district after government forces tried to remove Pakistani flags in the town that had been reportedly unfurled by locals on top of the shopping complexes, electric polls and mobile towers.
Eyewitnesses said that dozens of Pakistani green flags were spotted in Hajin town on Saturday morning that had reportedly been unfurled by locals during the dead of the night. Large number of police and CRPF personnel rushed to spot to remove these flags, however faced a stiff resistance from youth who resorted to heavy stone-pelting forcing government forces to retreat from the town.
Witnesses said that scores of protesting youth who took to streets soon after the arrival of government forces in the town raised pro-freedom slogans and hurled rocks on them; however, police exercised maximum restraint and did not retaliate.
Action will be taken against miscreants who are hell-bent to disrupt peace in the town, a police official told CNS.
