Baramulla: Amid shutdown violent clashes broke out in Palhalan area of North Kashmirs Baramulla district for the consecutive second day on Friday in which at least four youth suffered pellet injuries while another youth was hit by a speedy bike when police chased the protesters to disperse them in the area.
Pertinently clashes had broken out in Palhalan area after the police detained a Work Shop owner Parvez Ahmed Gojri, who according to police was accused of murdering a police constable. Gojri, according to police is an accused in a case FIR No 264/2013 under Section 302, 307, 148, 149, 511 RPC of Police Station Pattan.
Huge cache of Willow clefts seized by Excise department Toll Post Lakhanpur
Jammu: The Excise department at Toll Post Lakhanpur has thwarted a major smuggling bid when it seized two trucks carrying 9760 willow clefts moving into Punjab through illicit route. Two vehicles JK08A-7129 and JK02AB-6096 were seized by the active staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur deployed at Nagri/Goondh minor Toll Posts, when they tried to move outside the State through illicit route along Ujh river. The willow clefts form raw material for manufacturing of cricket bats by local Industrial units and its export in raw form is not permissible in terms of J&K Willow (Prohibition on Export Movement Act 2000).
The Vehicles were being driven by Charan Dass and Ram Pal both residents of Kathua district and adopted this route for smuggling of the clefts outside the State in order to bypass the toll barriers.
