Srinagar: The government has decided to impose restrictions under section 144 in Srinagar on Friday to scuttle the Jamia Masjid chalo call by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on the anniversary of Jammu massacre of Muslims way back in 1947.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone said that curbs will be imposed in areas falling under the jurisdiction of six police stations on Friday.
Lone said that areas that fall under police stations of Nowhatta, Rainawari, Mahraj Gunj, Khanyar, Safakadal and Maisuma will be placed under strict restrictions under Section 144 of RPC.
The govenrments move comes in the wake of Jamia Masjid chalo called by Hurriyat (M) Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, which has the support of all separatists groups in Kashmir. (K
Police have already placed Mirwaiz under house arrest while hundreds of leaders, activists and youths have been rounded up to ensure peaceful rally of PM and to foil Million March called by senior resistance leader and Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani onNovember 7.
