Srinagar: Despite stringent security measures in place for the Saturday visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, militants Thursday evening attacked a paramilitary CRPF camp in Munwar area of the city. Eleven CRPF personal were injured in the attack, reports said.
Official sources said that the militants lobbed a grenade towards 82 battalion CRPF stationed in Ikhwan Hotel.
Soon after the attack, police and CRPF contingents rushed to the area and cordoned off whole area.
A CRPF spokesman said that eleven of their men have been injured in the blast. I am on the spot. We are assessing the situation and it seems it was a small intensity blast not a grenade. Our men have not received splinter injuries, he said.
Meanwhile,Militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen late on Thursday claimed responsibility for the attack on CRPF camp in Khayam area of Srinagar city.
