Muzaffarnagar – Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Rajpal Saini has created a controversy by saying that women and children don’t need mobiles.
The BSP leader thinks that mobile phones are distracting women.
“There is no need to give phones to women and children. It distracts them and is useless. Why do women need phones? My mother, wife and sister never had mobile phones. They survived without one,” said Saini.
Saini later clarified that he meant that students of particular age should not be given mobile phones.
“What I am saying is that students should not be given mobile phones… It is the age to study, and mobile phones are a distraction,” he said.
Saini also said that once he had advised a poor father, already upset by the abduction of his daughter, that giving mobile phones to girls is wrong.
The comments have shocked women across the nation.
