SRINAGAR: Police on Friday said that eight school students were booked under section under 153 (A) of Ranbir Penal Code for allegedly shouting pro-Pakistan slogans in Jammu and Kashmir.
If an accused is convicted, under the act, for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, he can be jailed for four to ten years.
A case has been registered on the complaint of Principal and several persons have been booked for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans, said SSP Rajouri, Rajeshwar Singh.
He, however, said no arrests have been made, so far.
A case was registered under FIR number 57/2015 under section 153 (A) after the principal of the school lodged a formal complaint.
Earlier, several residents of the area locked the Government Higher Secondary School at Sialsui village of Kalakote alleging that some students raised Pro-Pakistan slogans.
The school was opened only when SHO Kalakote Parmod Singh, Tehsildar Kalakote and other officers pacified the protesters.
