SRINAGAR: An army porter was killed after he came under an avalanche in Gurez sector of north Kashmirs Bandipore district on Thursday.
A police official said that Ghulam Qadir Toruk (50) son of Habibullah of Kudara village in Gurez was buried alive after a snow avalanche hit the Chakwali Tulial area.
Soon after the incident, locals and army immediately launched the operation and after several hours the body was retrieved from the site, he said.
In the incident, slain porters son, Farooq Ahmad Toruk also sustained injuries and has been hospitalized, he said.
The slain porter was working for armys 16 Dogra Regiment was along with his son performing their duties when the incident occurred, he said. (GNS)
