Srinagar: Government forces on Tuesday morning launched a renewed cordon-and-search operation in the forest area of Bandipora in north Kashmir.
Official sources told a local news agency, GNS, that the joint team of armys 14 RR and Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police launched the operation at Slynder forest area of Shok Baba village in Summlar of the district early Tuesday morning.
The forces, according to sources, fired few warning shots towards the suspected spot; however, there was no response from the other side.
Pertinently, after the killing of Sub-Inspector Altaf Ahmad Dar on October 07, there have been frequent cordon-and-search operations in the villages as well as forest areas of the Bandipora.
Dar, who was heading a Special Investigation team, was allegedly killed by a group of Lashar-i-Toiba militants headed by Abu Qasim of Pakistan.
Dars death has been admitted to be a great loss for police by the top officers of the police including DGP and IGP Kashmnir. (GNS)
