Srinagar, Oct 26, CNS: The Jammu and Kashmir government has set up a control room at Civil Secretariat here after a massive earthquake, epicentred in Afghanistan, rocked the state yesterday.
Although there have been widespread damages to building in the state, there are no reports of any loss of life.
Works minister Altaf Bukhari, who is leading the control room, said that the Jahangir Flyover, which was partially closed after it developed a crack, has been thrown open for traffic.
Bukhari said they are monitoring the situation besides another police control room and will ensure that the victims receive immediate official help.
“We are collecting information on loss of life and damaged to public and private property from across the Valley, said Bukhari.
People in the entire Valley abandoned offices, business places and homes and ran out into the open in order to avoid being caught in building collapses during and after the quake.
